Privacy Policy
We believe in plain language. This policy explains exactly what data The Audition Log collects, where it lives, and how it is used — in terms that are actually readable.
Overview
The Audition Log is a personal productivity app for actors. It is built on a simple principle: your data is yours. We do not run servers. We do not have user accounts. We do not collect analytics. We have no way to see your audition history, your monologues, or your headshots — because none of that information ever reaches us.
This policy covers both the iOS app and this website.
What the App Collects
The Audition Log collects only the information you choose to enter yourself. Everything stays on your device or in your personal iCloud account. This includes:
- Audition logs — project name, role, date, location, format, callback status, and afterthoughts
- Monologue texts, titles, characters, sources, and personal notes
- Headshot and resume files you upload
- Files attached to individual audition entries
- App preferences and settings stored locally on your device
What We Don’t Collect
To be completely clear about what we do not do:
- Your name, email address, or any contact information
- Your location or GPS data
- Device identifiers, advertising IDs, or fingerprints
- Usage analytics, session data, or crash reports
- Behavioural data or in-app activity tracking
- Data from third-party sources or social platforms
- Payment or financial information of any kind
The Audition Log contains no advertising, no tracking SDKs, and no third-party analytics libraries. There is nothing in the app that phones home.
How Your Data Is Stored
Your data is stored in two places, both under your direct control:
On your device
Audition logs, monologue texts, and file metadata are stored in your device’s local storage. This data never leaves your device unless you choose to use iCloud sync.
In your iCloud account
If iCloud is enabled, your data syncs automatically to Apple’s servers via iCloud Key-Value Store and iCloud Drive, making it available across all your Apple devices signed into the same Apple ID. This is managed entirely by Apple and subject to Apple’s own privacy policy.
Uploaded files — headshots, resumes, and audition attachments — are stored in a dedicated folder within your app’s local Documents directory and sync to iCloud Drive if iCloud is enabled on your device.
iCloud & Apple
The Audition Log uses Apple’s iCloud infrastructure for optional data sync. When you use iCloud sync, your data is stored in your personal iCloud account, tied to your Apple ID.
We — the developers of The Audition Log — have no access to your iCloud account and cannot view, modify, or delete data stored there. You are the only party with access to your iCloud-synced data.
Apple’s handling of iCloud data is governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy at apple.com/privacy. iCloud is an optional feature. The app functions fully without it.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, licence, share, or transfer your data to any third party under any circumstances.
The only times data leaves your device are:
- When synced to your personal iCloud account — which you control entirely
- When you explicitly choose to email a file using the app’s send feature — this opens your device’s native Mail app and you choose the recipient and whether to send
In both cases, the transfer is initiated by you and goes to an account or recipient you control. We are not involved.
This Website
This website does not use cookies, tracking pixels, or analytics software of any kind. We do not collect IP addresses, browser fingerprints, or any visitor information.
The website loads fonts from Google Fonts and icons from a CDN (jsDelivr). These requests go to third-party servers and may involve your IP address being logged by those services under their own privacy policies. We have no access to those logs.
We do not run remarketing campaigns, social tracking pixels, or any form of cross-site tracking from this website.
This WordPress site may use standard WordPress cookies for technical functionality (such as session management if you log in as an admin). These are not used to track visitors.
Your Uploaded Files
Headshots, resumes, and any other files you upload to The Audition Log are stored entirely on your device and, if iCloud is enabled, in your iCloud Drive. They are never uploaded to any server operated by us.
When you use the in-app email feature to send files, the file is attached to an email composed in your device’s native Mail app. You control who receives it. We do not transmit, copy, or retain any record of files you send.
Deleting a file from within the app removes it from your device storage. If iCloud sync is active, the deletion will propagate to iCloud as well.
Data Retention
Your data persists on your device for as long as the app is installed. Deleting the app removes all locally stored data immediately.
If you use iCloud sync, data in your iCloud account persists until you remove it manually. To delete app data from iCloud, go to:
- Settings → [Your Name] → iCloud → Manage Account Storage → The Audition Log
- Or: Settings → [Your Name] → iCloud → iCloud Drive → The Audition Log
We have no ability to delete your data on your behalf, as we have no access to it.
Children’s Privacy
The Audition Log is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the app collects no personal information from any user, there is no mechanism by which a child could submit personal data to us.
Security
All data stored locally on your device is protected by iOS’s built-in security architecture, including device encryption when your device is locked. Files stored in the app’s Documents directory are sandboxed and inaccessible to other apps.
iCloud data is protected by Apple’s security infrastructure, including end-to-end encryption for certain data categories. See apple.com/privacy for full details.
Because we operate no servers and receive no user data, there is no centralised database that could be breached to expose your information.
Changes to This Policy
If we make material changes to this privacy policy, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. We will not make changes that retroactively reduce your privacy protections.
Continued use of The Audition Log after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
